Seasonal Specials

December 2016-March 2017

Whoever wishes to investigate medicine should proceed thus: In the first place, consider the seasons of the year and the effect each of them produces.                      -Hippocrates

When the cold weather hits you feel "it" in most of your bones. That "it" is pain and discomfort that you’re feeling. Winter is the season that the organs & energy bloodstream of the Kidney and its partner, the Bladder get priority for body energy to detoxify, repair, & recharge. Like a battery, the kidney is the power source of energy for all the other circuits/meridians of the body. This 3 month recharge time is crucial so that the kidney can provide energy to the other body organs for the next 9 months. Also kidney energy influences the bones, hearing, sinuses and also the hair on the head.

When your body hydration is low you feel "it" in your bones as a deep bone ache, pain or increased joint pain. Winter is the season to drink plenty of water, eat good nutrition and minerals & get quality rest in order to recharge the kidney's energy. This is why it's the most important season of the year to DRINK, DRINK, DRINK... WATER. The kidney is the body’s big battery and each body cell is a micro battery, both use water to produce energy and recharge the body. Cars run on gas, the body runs on water not soda. No water = No energy

Stress causes cells gates NOT to open and take in water, similar to trying to fuel a car with a gas cap on. Normally cells pull in water like a cotton towel. No water into the kidney cells means no energy/recharge to the kidney. The kidney is the energy source that the electronic circuits/ acupuncture meridians run off 12 months a year. Low kidney energy causes fatigue, depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder, allergies & heart problems to name a few. The kidney circuit controls the muscles that hold the neck up & support the low back and the bladder circuit controls the muscles around the entire spinal column, lower leg & the arch of the foot. 74% of Americans are dehydrated and don't even know it. Chiropractors mostly treat neck & low back pain, headaches & plantar fasciitis as a result of this “H2O” problem.

The body is also running the detox or rejuvenation and repair program of the urinary system at this time. It’s clinically common to see a lot of urinary tract infections (UTI), and kidney stones this season. An amazing 60-70% of water you drink can be used to provide moisture to the air you breathe, especially in low humidity dry heating conditions of cold winter weather. The excessive drying of membranes explains why the top two most common reasons for doctor visits are cough and throat problems. A 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short term memory, trouble with basic math & difficulty focusing, due to neurons in your brain being dehydrated.

The holiday season is filled with festivities of eating and drinking. Alcohol throws off the body’s water regulator in the brain. A hangover is simply severe dehydration of the brain and the body. Drink your water and have a happy energetic new year. If you have stress in your life you will need to add Hydrate I/II to your water in order to energize your entire body.

The Effects Of Winter On

Winter isn't as outgoing as the pastels of spring or the vibrant colors of summer and fall. But it isn't just the slush and potholes that get us down in the winter months. It’s the level of sunlight available to us. Just as all living things need sunlight, people need it for psychological health. Depression, also called major depression or clinical depression, is a mental illness characterized by persistent and life-altering low mood, loss of interest in usual activities, sleep disturbances and other symptoms such as changes in appetite and irritability. Depression involves abnormal levels of important brain chemicals, called neurotransmitters which are responsible for controlling moods. Ask how we can identify these chemical imbalances with the Zyto technology, our professional nutrition evaluation.

Sunlight and Serotonin

Higher levels of the brain chemical serotonin equate to a better mood. The less serotonin there is, the higher of your chances for depression. Sunlight and serotonin have the same relationship. The more sunlight there is, the better the serotonin production in the brain will be. As we know sunlight last for a few hours a day during the winter months and most people work during the day while the sun is out. Which makes their situation to get sunlight very defalcate. Ask for SeroNutrients and Vitamin D. The Far Infrared Sauna at our clinic is also a great choice. Use a 30min session in the Far Infrared Sauna for light therapy to increase energy, promote sleep and well being.

Seasons and Depression

As we know changes in the seasons can contribute to depression in other ways. During the fall and winter months a person’s biological clock or sleep regulation is interrupted due to fewer hours of sunlight. This can cause people to feel very sleepy when they are usually not, possibly leading to symptoms of depression. Sunlight can also affect levels of melatonin which is a hormone our body natural produces, further contributing to low energy levels and high need for sleep. Ask about Melatonin choices.

Winter and Depression

Even if a person does not have clinical depression, the winter months can still get them feeling down. If someone is diagnosed with depression, symptoms may worsen in the winter. But some people have a specific form of depression that causes them to be particularly sensitive to changes in sunlight, called seasonal affective disorder, also known as winter depression. Seasonal affective disorder involves a few different symptoms than major depression, including more need for sleep, very low energy levels, even "extreme fatigue," cravings for carbohydrates and wanting to be alone. Seasonal affective disorder involves depression with an annual, predictable onset, usually beginning in the winter and ending in the spring or summer.
